 About the Species: "Sinners" or "Sin" 
"Sin" Which is an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law. "A sin in the eyes of God" They are people who committed the "Seven Deadly Sins" (also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins)
when they were still alive, when death come upon them they were tortured in hell as punishment for their crimes but on a certain a "child" who accidentally (or was it?) open the gates between earth and hell the "Sinners" escapefrom hell and went to our world but because of endless torture they receive from hell they no longer have a body but only shadow like form.
